Lotus on Tracks exclusive playground - we are the only UK TDO with access to the circuit.
Arguably the safest circuit we visit. In some ways it's similar to Bedford with plenty of run off and large gravel traps where required. However, with 13 corners in just 1.5 miles it means cars are travelling much slower so are easier to stop. Safety is also helped by the extremely small circuit limit of just 15 cars. All days at the circuit are run in open pit lane format thus guarantying the most track time you will get at any circuit if you and your car can take it.
Situated just 45 minutes from Calais with the A16 motorway on one side, Abbeville airfield on another and situated next door to a kart circuit so no noise meters to be found.
The circuit is used by manufacturers and race drivers alike for testing partly due not just to safety but also that it's very private and secure. When you arrive you will be greeted by a large green security gate if it doesn't open pop your hand through the fence and press the buzzer and the gate will be opened remotely.
The long start finish straight ends abruptly in a right hand hairpin followed by a quick ninety degree left which often catches drivers out when the track has been damp – it’s just about the last patch of track to dry out. The next right handed corner has a subtle camber change toward the exit again encouraging the tail to go past the point of no return. A quick blast around a left kink nicely sets the car up for the long right transitioning into long left – a superb couple of corners for those attempting the art of drifting. Caution on the exit to the left as it’s one of the few spots where the barrier is not all that far way. The left to right chicane comes after another short straight - again camber change on the exit adds to the entertainment and watch the entry speed as it’s often the cause of a lock up under braking. A fast left leads into the penultimate right handed corner, again a lovely camber for provoking the rear end, but beware the gravel trap which catches the overcommitted who provoke the car a little to much. The last corner is another 90 right before you head onto the main straight but watch out in the wet as there is a left kink just before the bridge so don't put the power down too early as that will result in a spin under the bridge with barriers either side - not happened yet and won't while people keep the kink in mind if it's wet.
Top tip: In the wet don't put the power down on the main straight until have negotiated the left hander to take you under the bridge.
Directions
