The 'old' Nurburgring, where the German Grand Prix was held until 1976, was the most legendary grand prix circuit there's ever been. The track's length was, by today's standards, an unbelievable 14.1 miles and it had over 150 corners.
In 1976 after Niki Lauda's near-fatal fiery crash the
German GP was moved to Hockenheim where it remains today.
The Nurburgring was rebuilt in 1984 using a small part of old track, while a completely new section was built to drag the circuit up to modern safety standards.
Noise Limit
101 dbs at ¾ max revs. This is measured electronically, at 1 meters from the end of the exhaust pipe with the microphone of the noise meter at an angle of 45° with the exhaust axis. Vehicles are measured at the will of the pit-lane marshals. Vehicles must also remain within the circuits drive-by limits which are measured by ear.
Directions
Make sure you DON'T head for Nürnberg (Nuremberg) some 242 miles further West of the ring!!!! The town you want is Nürburg.
Nurburg is 282 miles from Calais.
