The Lotus Test Track at Hethel was completely refurbished and updated in 2011 when it was opened by Nigel Mansell. The circuit is 2.2 miles long and with its run-off areas is situated in approximately 30 acres of the 50 acre Group Lotus site. Built to put Lotus‘ high performance cars through their paces the circuit incorporates a series of bends, hairpin corners and straights providing an excellent venue for honing driving skills.
Lotus on Track have run the vast majority of track days at Hethel over the last 20 years. In fact most years being the only organisation running events at the home of Lotus and ensuring owners can still drive their own cars where they were built. Noise limit: 105db static & 95db drive by 20m
Statistischer Test: Ein db-Messgerät wird in einem 45 Gradwinkel und einer Entfernung von 50 cm von dem Auspuff aufgestellt. Gemessen wird bei ¾ der Maximaldrehzahl. Der höchste db-Wert der bei dieser Messung entsteht ist der Wert für den Tag. Ein statistisches Limit von 105db ist relativ hoch und wird deshalb von den meisten Autos nicht erreicht. Bei einem originalen Auspuff am Fahrzeug werden 98 db im Normalfall eingehalten. Diejenigen mit einem sehr lauten Auspuff müssen aufpassen.
Vorbeifahrt: Es wird beim Fahren an der Strecke der db-Wert gemessen. Das Messgerät kann direkt an der Strecke stehen, kann aber auch einen Abstand von 20 Metern haben. Autos mit Kompressor haben in der Regel größere Probleme, auch wenn sie den statistischen Test bestanden haben. Die Autos mit Turbolader und Klimaanlage haben keine Probleme mit den statistischen Test, weil diese erst im oberen Drehzahl-Bereich laut werden. Bei der Messung auf der Strecke gibt es viele Faktoren, die eine Messung beeinflussen - wie zum Beispiel: Temperatur, Windrichtung und Geschwingkeit; auch der Zustand der Strecke und die Höhe der Wolkendecke können die Messung beeinflussen.

Clothing must fully cover arms & legs.
Crash helmets must be in good condition and suitable for circuit driving in a car. (Convertible/flip-up helmets are not permitted)
ANY vehicle without a hard top or fixed roof will require occupants to wear full face helmets.
Alcohol must not be consumed, including at lunch time.

All drivers must be 21 – 75 years old (2nd drivers 21 – 70).
Passengers:
LoT club members may have up to 3 passengers free of charge.
Additional passengers or those with non-members will be charged £10 each.
Passengers must be 18-75 years old, no exceptions.

Final instructions will be emailed out 4 days before the event.
Strictly Lotus, Caterham & VX220 only. All cars must be road legal.
Competition license holders only accepted if participating in a road legal, non-caged car (LCUK Speed cars are ok).
Access to the Lotus site is restricted. We are happy for you to bring ONE passenger OR second driver, they must arrive with you. Unfortunately, children under the age of 16 are not permitted on site. The venue is not open to the general public or spectators. Cameras – including in car are not permitted.
Tea & coffee will be available all day. However, there is no other food or drink available on-site. We would suggest bringing soft drinks/snacks with you and buy lunch when you head out for fuel. There are many local shops and service stations selling sandwiches and snacks a list of the major ones can be found on our circuit guide – here.
The Lotus retail shop will be open during part of the day, times will be covered at sign on.
